Cache 1: Sleeping Giant
Claimed by: The Yeager Family

"On a cold Saturday morning, my wife and I bundled up our three young sons, layering them in warm coats, woolen hats, and mittens that barely kept up with their boundless energy. The crisp air filled our lungs as we set out on an adventure, one I had playfully named, "The Hunt for Giants."

Whether we're on a simple nature walk or an ambitious hiking adventure, I always tell my sons the same thing: "We always find something." This Saturday proved no different.

As we navigated a winding trail, the trees stood tall and bare, their skeletal branches reaching into the pale winter sky. Rounding one of the bends, something peculiar caught my eye a subtle glint nestled among the gnarled roots of a fallen log. I said nothing, choosing instead to keep the discovery to myself, letting the mystery simmer as we continued our ascent toward the castle-like rock formation that loomed above.

The hike grew more challenging as the trail steepened, and little legs grew weary. Complaints surfaced, and energy waned. Just when morale hit its lowest point, I recalled the curious sight from earlier. With a spark of excitement, I gathered the boys and said, "I think we passed something magical on the way up a hidden treasure, perhaps even a clue left by Giants themselves."
Suddenly, fatigue vanished, replaced by eager anticipation. Their small feet, once dragging, now raced down the trail with renewed vigor. Hearts pounding, eyes scanning, we retraced our steps until we found it: a hollow in the tree, partly hidden by a cascade of moss and twisted roots. Inside, tucked like a secret waiting to be discovered, was a black box with white writing. The boys’ eyes widened with wonder as we opened it, revealing trinkets, notes, and tokens left behind by fellow adventurers.
To my sons, it wasn't just a cache; it was proof that magic exists if you know where to look."

Cache 2: Branford Supply Pond

Claimed By: Matt Adams

I spotted a message from Captain on a rainy and raw winter afternoon. I knew that it was not the time to seek out such an adventure but decided that the next morning would be better timing. I referenced my geocaching map to see that I had been to the area of the cache before but had never walked on the trail by the cache. After an early morning drive down from my house I found myself parking in a winter wonderland of ice and snow and suited up for what might turn into a long excursion with a lengthy search ... gloves, hat, warm coat, and even micro spikes for traction and I was off.

I was "lured" to the kiosk and found an item that I will likely use some time in April but that wasn't the end of my experience. After a short walk there was an even shorter search and I was soon back at the truck exploring the find after picking up the cache.

One might think that this was the end of my adventure but if you know me you know that's rarely the case. Instead I remembered reading that there may be hints to the next cache included in the find. I then spent the next 12-15 hours periodically looking through the materials to try to figure out where the next cache might be. Then it hit me ... oh how the pieces of this fit together! So the next morning I was off for another walk searching and searching in a location that I thought the cache might be in. Sadly it was not until later in the day that I spotted the poem. The cache 3 poem makes it clear that my last assumption was more of a figment of my imagination but fear not ... the adventure was real!

The rule that there are no such things as coincidences is clearly broken in this case.

I am excited to continue the adventure and hope others will join in the fun.

Cache 3: Lighthouse State Park

Claimed by: Matt Adams

Oh what a fun time it has been since my find on cache #2. I did not understand exactly how this game worked and spent a few hours at a shoreline park exploring where I thought cache 3 might be. Eventually I learned how the game is set up and waited, maybe a little impatiently, for the information to be uploaded.

This afternoon I spotted the information that the cache was in place. I had gotten some help from a friend who "decrypted" the poem and I had already known which park the cache was going to be in but not exactly where. I then saw the posted pictures and knew where to look, it wasn't until I was leaving work that I saw that coordinates were posted, I wonder if I needed them ...

I arrived at the park after a 45-minute drive, hopeful that the cache was still available. I spotted the "watchful eye" from a distance. Nearby were the horses that do not eat and between the two was a nice place for the cache to stay. I also spotted the nearby "vessel" with sails and cannons prepared, that must be what the Captain arrived on. There was also a nearby red herring cache I could not resist snapping a picture of along my walk.

The find itself was a quick one even without using the coordinates. I was soon heading back to the warmth of my truck after the brisk walk on this very windy day. I will soon dive into the twists and turns that the information in the cache will lead me to. I enjoy looking forward to more adventures in the future.
